Camino project lead talks open source
"Camino project lead talks open source" on Google Video

I thought this was an interesting little lecture. Mike Pinkerton, project lead on the Camino browser, spent an hour or so talking about the browser's past, present and future in the context of the OSS community. Most fun admission: Netscape 6 was "crap", and he was "ashamed" to have his name associated with it.

Not entirely related, but the way Google-video placeholders look on my friends page is very ugly.

Noted and cut, thanks.

Oh, there was no need for that, at least not from my perspective : )

I meant it more along the lines of: Why did they design it in a way that is so easily "uglified"?

From my perspective friends page ugliness is hateful and must be avoided at all costs. T'was the first time I'd used Google's "post to LiveJournal" feature, and the last. ;)

*chuckle* So in your mind I'd be guilty of the crime of making my friends' friends pages ugly if I posted an image of an ugly painting?* : þ

I do agree with you however, I personally prefer to put content other than text and polls under cuts out of politeness. I have made an exception though with my Voice of the "week" posts, so that they would look pretty if someone took an interest in clicking the tag and viewing them all at once.

*The flaw in that scenario is that they would of course have the option of using placeholders until that ugly painting had gone down the page
